Adequate daily activity, specifically walking, is strongly linked to life expectancy, morbidity and quality of life (QoL). Two tools that reflect these activities but are not yet validated in patients with CMT are the 6-min walk test (6MWT) and the Step- WatchTM Activity Monitor (SAM). The 6MWT evaluates the global and integrated responses of all the systems involved in walking, including the pulmonary and cardiovascular systems and neuromuscular units. In neuromuscular disorders it has been shown to be a reliable OM . The SAM (OrthoCare Innovations, Washington, DC, USA) is a valuable tool for measuring daily activity parameters in many different neurological pathologies .
